We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electromechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced heavy industrial manufacturing site. This is a hands-on, varied role where you will play a key part in ensuring plant reliability, maximising uptime, and supporting continuous improvement across a complex production environment.
You’ll work across a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems, helping to keep critical production equipment running safely and efficiently.

- Monday – Friday: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00 (rotating weekly)
- Pay: £24.71 per hour (including 25% shift uplift on all hours worked)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electromechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced heavy industrial manufacturing site. This is a hands-on, varied role where you will play a key part in ensuring plant reliability, maximising uptime, and supporting continuous improvement across a complex production environment.
You’ll work across a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems, helping to keep critical production equipment running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing
Engineering & Maintenance
- Diagnose, fault-find, and repair a wide range of industrial equipment including furnaces, conveyors, casting machines, crushers, mixers, pumps, and extraction systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to reduce breakdowns and improve asset life
- Complete electrical maintenance on motors, drives, control panels, PLC systems, sensors, and instrumentation
- Undertake mechanical repairs including gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, valves, and rotating equipment
- Support furnace maintenance including burners, thermocouples, cooling systems, and refractory monitoring
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent corrective solutions
- Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering standards and site safety procedures
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work safely within a high-risk lead (Pb) processing environment, following strict PPE and hygiene protocols
- Support compliance with PUWER, LOLER, and environmental regulations
- Identify and report hazards, maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
- Assist with audits, statutory inspections, and equipment compliance checks
Operational Support
- Provide rapid response to breakdowns to minimise downtime and production impact
- Support production teams to optimise plant efficiency and reliability
- Maintain accurate records using the site CMMS system
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, lean manufacturing, and reliability programmes
Projects & Improvements
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment and plant
- Work alongside contractors during shutdowns and project works
- Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance performance and reduce failures
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience working in heavy industrial, processing, foundry, recycling, or similarly demanding environments
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability
- Experience with industrial systems such as conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated equipment
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Understanding of PLC-controlled systems
- Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance tracking
- Strong commitment to health & safety
- Experience with heavy hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of furnace systems, burner management, or molten metal processes
- IOSH qualification or equivalent safety training
- Condition monitoring experience (vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication monitoring)
- Welding, fabrication, or machining skills
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Multiskilled Maintenance
- Apprenticeship-trained (advantageous)
- Additional training in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, or industrial automation is highly desirable
