Pertemps Education Network is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Greenwich that is seeking a compassionate and motivated Graduate Psychology & Autism Learning Support Assistant to join its SEN support team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate to develop practical experience supporting children with autism and additional needs within a nurturing primary school environment.

The successful candidate will support pupils across the primary age range, including children who may have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language needs, ADHD, social communication difficulties or other additional needs.

The RoleAs a Graduate Psychology & Autism Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with autism and additional needs.
- Support children to access the curriculum and participate positively in classroom activities.
- Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils, helping them build confidence and independence.
- Support pupils with social communication, emotional regulation and engagement.
- Use structured activities, visual resources and appropriate communication strategies to support learning.
- Help pupils manage transitions, routines and changes throughout the school day.
- Support children who may experience sensory, behavioural or communication difficulties.
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and other support staff to implement individual support strategies.
- Monitor pupil engagement and contribute to creating a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
Who Would Be Suitable?
This position would be particularly suited to graduates with a genuine interest in psychology and working with children.
We would welcome applications from:
- Psychology graduates considering Educational or Clinical Psychology.
- Graduates interested in Autism, SEN or Child Development.
- Childhood Studies, Education or related graduates.
- Candidates with previous experience working with children through schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work or volunteering.
- Graduates looking to gain relevant experience before applying for postgraduate psychology or therapy training.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- An interest in autism and child development.
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children.
- Resilience and the ability to remain calm when supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or emotional dysregulation.
- A willingness to learn and develop specialist SEN strategies.
