Advanced Practitioner - Family Drug and Alcohol (FDAC) Team
About the role:
We have a unique opportunity for experienced (plus 3yrs pq) children's social worker in a FDAC team based in Merseyside.
The candidate will be experienced in Child Protection / Safeguarding and have a good understanding of FDAC and the operating model.
The Family Drug and Alcohol Court team (FDAC) are an innovative, problem-solving and evidenced based multi-disciplinary intervention with families in the court arena. Evidence has shown that FDAC’s deliver better outcomes for families and children involved in the public family law justice system. The FDAC trained judges work in conjunction with the specialist team to support parents in overcoming substance misuse and related challenges to ensure they can safely care for their children. We have recently launched this new and innovative service within Liverpool City Council and are looking for an experienced social worker to join the multi-disciplinary team.

- You will have a robust understanding of all Children’s Safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and processes, with a proven record of working across all disciplines, including mental health, drug services and domestic abuse.
- You will work directly with parents, undertaking drug and alcohol screening completing multi-disciplinary assessments and intervention planning with the specialist team. You will regularly attend FDAC court hearings and liaise with judges.
- The role will include a strong focus on a relationship approach and complex family circumstances, including addiction and domestic abuse and effective partnership working.
- You will be an excellent communicator and team player, assisting with the development of team policies and practice, promoting and maintaining strong collaborative relationships across all multi-agencies.
What you need:
- A degree in Social Work or equivalent
- Registered with Social Care Wales/ Social Work England
- At least 3 years PQE direct employment within English Local Authorities
- Completed relevant post-qualifying training
- Enhanced DBS check
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Car driver and have access to a vehicle
