Job Description

SURVEYOR – HEALTHY HOMES TEAM | WEST LONDON
£400–£450 per day | 6-month ongoing contract | Hybrid/Field Based

This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Surveyor with experience across property maintenance, building defects, disrepair and housing stock to take on a varied role with a strong focus on improving residents' homes and living conditions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out property inspections and investigating building defects.
    • Assessing issues relating to damp, mould, disrepair and property condition.
    • Supporting complex disrepair cases and identifying appropriate remedial solutions.
    • Preparing specifications, reports and recommendations for works.
    • Providing technical advice to colleagues, contractors and residents.
    • Liaising with contractors and external partners to ensure works are completed to the required standard.
    • Monitoring works and ensuring appropriate quality and value for money.
    • Identifying wider investment and maintenance requirements within properties.
    • Maintaining accurate records and updating relevant housing/property systems.
    • Managing a varied workload and prioritising cases according to risk and customer need.
    • Working with residents to understand issues within their homes and provide clear updates.
    • Supporting the Healthy Homes Team with wider property improvement initiatives.
We are looking for a technically capable Surveyor who can combine strong surveying knowledge with a practical and customer-focused approach.
You will ideally have:
  • Experience in building surveying, property maintenance or a similar housing environment.
    • A minimum HNC/HND in Building Surveying or relevant surveying qualification/studies.
    • Experience investigating building defects and property condition issues.
    • Knowledge of housing maintenance, disrepair, damp and mould.
    • Experience working with contractors and external stakeholders.
    • Strong report writing and technical assessment skills.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • The ability to manage a varied caseload and work to deadlines.
    • Good understanding of health and safety and relevant housing/property standards.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use professional judgement.
    • RICS membership is desirable but not essential.
    • Local authority, housing association or social housing experience would be advantageous.
