Planning engineers decide and develop the most appropriate economic models and engineering methods for projects. They work in a variety of fields such as civil engineering or construction. Planning engineers are normally onsite during an engineering project to supervise all stages of work and provide solutions.
Tasks required include:
- Devises inspection, testing and evaluation methods for bought-in materials, components, semi-finished and finished products.
- Ensures accuracy of machines, jigs, fixtures, gauges and other manufacturing and testing equipment.

What are the entry requirements for a Planning Officer (Manufacturing)?

After qualifying, periods of appropriate training and experience are required before membership of a chartered engineering institution is achieved.
