Leading recruitment firm Pertemps has partnered with training provider Aurelia Training Ltd to deliver up to 30 apprenticeships at Bournville Rugby Club in Birmingham, continuing the company’s successful long-term mission for corporate social responsibility.

Back Row (L-R): Matt Price, Founder of the Community Group Ltd, Bob Harknett Managing Director of Aurelia Training Ltd, Carmen Watson Chair and Managing Director and Steve Mogano Finance Director of Pertemps.

The recruitment giant, which is headquartered in Meriden, will finance the partnership to help deliver Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer’s (CSHO) by using Apprenticeship Levy funding of £250,000.

By undertaking this levy transfer with Aurelia Training Ltd, Bournville rugby players will have the opportunity to work with community engagement specialists, Community Group Ltd, to increase sports engagement within primary and secondary schools, as well as building vital links with local key stakeholders.

It comes at a time when the government has increased its efforts to restart the economy following the coronavirus crisis, with a particular focus on getting young people back to work following a soar in youth unemployment, with the number of under-25s claiming Universal Credit doubling.

Carmen Watson, Chair and Managing Director of Pertemps said, “We must ensure that local people have the skills they need to be well-placed to tackle the challenges of the future. Apprenticeships are a great way in giving young people their first step into employment. They are a great way of promoting social mobility and helping those furthest from the job market into work.”

Bob Harknett, Managing Director of Aurelia Training Ltd, added: “I was approached by Community Group about offering apprenticeship training to increase their existing community footprint which focuses on a number of rugby clubs across 180 schools. As we have a working partnership with Pertemps, and knowing their commitment to both the community and improving opportunities for young people, this partnership was an ideal match. Pertemps Levy will be transferred to the rugby club and Aurelia is confident of delivering the apprenticeship to our normal high standards.”
