JOB DESCRIPTION

Civil enforcement officers patrol the streets to enforce parking restrictions, ensure a free flow of traffic is maintained, ensure the safety of pedestrians and ensure traffic and parking laws are complied with. They aid with the combating of crime and crime reduction by providing assistance during incidents and providing patrol services.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Candidates should be at least 18 years of age (in some areas 20-25+) and may be required to pass a medical examination. Training is typically provided on-the-job.

TASKS

  • Patrol designated areas to enforce parking regulations, issuing tickets for violations..
  • Monitor and manage traffic flow, ensuring compliance with road rules and regulations..
  • Issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for various violations, such as illegal parking or traffic offenses..
  • Provide information and assistance to the public regarding parking regulations and enforcement procedures..
  • Maintain accurate records of issued tickets, violations, and any relevant details..
  • Provide evidence and attend court proceedings if necessary, relating to contested Penalty Charge Notices..
  • Report any maintenance issues related to road signs, markings, or infrastructure that may impact traffic flow or safety..
  • Engage with the community to raise awareness of parking regulations and promote responsible parking behaviour..
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other authorities to address traffic-related issues..
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or road closures, and coordinate with relevant agencies..
  • Stay informed about changes in traffic and parking regulations through training and updates..
