JOB DESCRIPTION

A Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of resources, vehicles, or personnel to fulfil service requests, deliveries, or other operational needs. This role involves real-time monitoring, communication, and coordination to ensure timely and effective deployment of resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Receive service requests, orders, or work orders from clients, customers, or internal teams..
  • Determine the appropriate resources, vehicles, or personnel needed to fulfil the requests..
  • Develop and optimize daily schedules for drivers, technicians, or service personnel..
  • Plan efficient routes based on factors such as location, traffic conditions, and urgency..
  • Monitor the real-time location and progress of vehicles or personnel using tracking systems or communication tools..
  • Respond promptly to delays, emergencies, or changes in the field..
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers, field personnel, and other dispatchers..
  • Relay relevant information, instructions, or updates to ensure smooth operations..
  • Provide information to clients or customers regarding service status, estimated arrival times, or any issues encountered..
  • Address inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a professional and courteous manner..
  • Coordinate responses to emergencies, breakdowns, or incidents in the field..
  • Collaborate with emergency services or support teams to ensure a swift and appropriate response..
  • Maintain accurate records of service requests, dispatch activities, and communication logs..
  • Complete and file incident reports or other documentation as required..
  • Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance for vehicles or equipment..
  • Ensure that vehicles are well-maintained and meet safety standards..
  • Address operational issues, conflicts, or challenges in real-time..
  • Collaborate with other departments or teams to find solutions and improve dispatch processes..
  • Provide training or guidance to new dispatchers or field personnel..
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices..
