JOB DESCRIPTION

Support Workers play a crucial role in providing assistance and care to individuals who may face challenges such as disabilities, mental health issues, or other support needs. They work to enhance the independence, well-being, and overall quality of life for those they support, often collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. In most cases workers will be required to register with the appropriate statutory body which involves satisfying the registration criteria. This would normally include holding or working towards the appropriate qualification for the job. Entrants must typically be 18 years old and have experience of working in a care environment. Both Off and on-the-job training is available. A wide range of qualifications including NVQs/SVQs covering various aspects of care are available. Background checks including a DBS check are likely to be required.

  • Offer emotional support, encouragement, and companionship to individuals, fostering positive relationships..
  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals, assisting with daily activities, personal care, and other tasks according to their unique needs..
  • Respond to crises or emergencies, implementing appropriate interventions and ensuring the safety and well-being of those in your care..
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other support staff to provide comprehensive care and support..
