Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Oldbury
Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 + Benefits
Shift Pattern: Rotating Shifts

Working Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00

    • Friday: 06:00–12:15 / 12:15–18:30

The OpportunityWe are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a successful, long-established heavy manufacturing business operating rolling mills, press machinery and associated production equipment.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys mechanical fault finding, breakdown response, planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on rolling mills, presses and associated machinery.

    • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.

    • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, bearings, pumps and conveyors.

    • Support machinery installations, refurbishments and engineering improvement projects.

    • Contribute to equipment reliability, performance and production efficiency.

    • Work closely with production teams to identify faults and prevent recurring breakdowns.

    • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site procedures.

What We're Looking For
  • A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as NVQ, City & Guilds, ONC, HNC or equivalent.

    • Previous mechanical maintenance experience within manufacturing or heavy industry.

    • Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills.

    • Practical experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.

    • Experience with rolling mills, presses, steel processing or similar heavy industrial machinery would be advantageous.

    • A safety-conscious approach, with a proactive attitude towards maintenance and continuous improvement.
