Young People Legal Team – Warwickshire County Council
Location: Hybrid – Warwick (Shire Hall)
Pay: £13.69 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Contract: 6-month temporary assignment

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in child protection and family law while supporting solicitors and legal assistants in a busy local-authority legal environment.

About the RoleYou will provide administrative, secretarial and paralegal support across child protection matters. Duties include:
- Preparing, updating and managing court bundles.
- Redacting confidential documents and preparing court papers.
- Filing and serving legal documents.
- Obtaining evidence and actioning court orders.
- Drafting routine correspondence and legal documents.
- Opening and maintaining case files and case management records.
- Supporting the preparation of witness statements and legal papers.
- Attending court hearings, meetings and conferences when required and taking notes.
- Providing high-quality administrative support to Children and Families legal teams.
Essential RequirementsApplicants should have:
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
- At least 6 months' relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Accurate IT, document production and information-handling skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to confidentiality, professionalism and integrity.
- Confidence handling sensitive information concerning children and families.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Resilience when dealing with the emotional aspects of child protection work.
- Audio typing experience.
- Experience with case management systems, particularly Visualfiles.
- Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Previous legal administration or paralegal experience.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing service needs.
