Location: Lambeth, South London
Pay: £108.35 per day
Start Date: ASAP / September Start

Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?

Our education recruitment agency is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a Year 4/5 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within the school's specialist Autism Resource Base. This is an excellent opportunity to work with Key Stage 2 pupils, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally in a structured and supportive environment.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for Year 4 and Year 5 pupils with Autism (ASC).
    • Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs and EHCP targets.
    • Promote communication, emotional regulation, social interaction and independence.
    • Implement behaviour support strategies, visual timetables and sensory approaches where appropriate.
    • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver high-quality support.
    • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils build confidence both in the Autism Base and during inclusion opportunities within mainstream classes.
    • Support personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs in a school or similar setting.
    • Calm, patient and resilient with a nurturing approach.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum is desirable.
    • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
    • Graduates in Psychology, Education or related fields are encouraged to apply.
