About the Role A welcoming and supportive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive difference to a child's educational journey. The successful candidate will provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day, helping the pupil to engage with learning, develop social skills, and manage behaviours that can sometimes challenge their learning and the learning of others.
The pupil does not require personal care or feeding support, however they do require constant supervision, reassurance, and structured support to remain focused, regulated, and engaged in classroom activities.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism.
• Implement strategies to support behaviour regulation and positive engagement.
• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals.
• Support the child's academic, social, and emotional development.
• Help maintain a calm and structured learning environment.
• Encourage independence whilst providing appropriate levels of support.
• Monitor progress and contribute to reports and reviews where required.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience supporting children with Autism and additional needs.
• Experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviours.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to remain proactive and attentive throughout the school day.
• Passion for supporting children with SEND to achieve their potential.
• Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support would be advantageous but are not essential.
