Job Description

Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant

Could you add real value in a KS2 classroom while building the experience you need before teacher training? Are you looking for a school where academic support is planned properly, and your input will actually matter?

*** Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 to July 2027
*** £85 - £101 per day
*** Superb primary school, Central Wolverhampton
*** Academic support in KS2 across the national curriculum

The Role:
Provide academic support across KS2, helping pupils strengthen their understanding in English, Maths, Science, and wider curriculum subjects. You will work with individuals and small groups, reinforce key learning from lessons, support pupils who need extra guidance, and share progress clearly with the class teacher. KS2 covers the full primary curriculum, including English, maths, science, computing, history, geography, art and design, music, PE, and languages.

The Candidate:
You are thoughtful, dependable, and good at breaking learning down into clear steps. You want to see how strong primary practice works day to day, you enjoy helping children build confidence, and you are serious about using this experience as a route into teacher training. Primary teachers work with children aged 3 to 11 and support their educational, social, and emotional development, which makes a KS2 support role a strong starting point.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
    • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
    • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
    • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
    • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.

The School:
This superb primary school in Central Wolverhampton offers a strong platform for a graduate who wants more than basic classroom exposure. You will be joining a setting where expectations are high, support is purposeful, and KS2 pupils benefit from focused academic intervention across the curriculum. With statutory assessment and teacher assessment guidance continuing to shape KS2 expectations in 2026, this is the kind of role that gives you useful insight into how schools balance day-to-day teaching with measurable pupil progress.
