Job Description

Job Title: Aids Surveyor
Location: North London
Salary: £42 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3-month ongoing contract

Overview We are seeking an experienced Aids Surveyor to support the delivery of disabled adaptations and housing improvement schemes. You will play a key role in assessing properties, designing adaptation schemes, and ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise service users and colleagues on adaptation schemes and their feasibility
    • Prepare scheme designs and technical drawings (including AutoCAD)
    • Manage and monitor both large and small-scale projects to ensure timely and successful delivery
    • Inspect existing buildings to assess condition and identify defects affecting proposed adaptations
    • Prepare documentation for Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications
    • Carry out pre- and post-works inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and Occupational Therapist recommendations
    • Produce schedules of works and specifications for contractor issue
    • Liaise with service users, families, contractors, statutory bodies, and stakeholders
    • Ensure compliance with legislation including Health & Safety, CDM Regulations, and Party Wall Act
    • Work collaboratively with professionals to ensure statutory and quality standards are met
    • Stay up to date with modern construction methods, materials, and industry developments
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives
    • Uphold Health & Safety responsibilities in line with council policies and procedures
    • Engage in continuous professional development and mandatory training
Requirements
  • Proven experience in building surveying, adaptations, or housing works
    • Strong knowledge of residential construction and building pathology
    • Experience producing AutoCAD drawings and technical specifications
    • Understanding of DFG processes and disability adaptation requirements
    • Knowledge of H&S legislation, CDM regulations, and statutory compliance
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
    • Strong communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and service users
    • Competent in IT systems and digital reporting tools
    • DBS check required (Disclosure and Barring Service)
